[How to Apply]

1. Application Eligibility and Study Period

Undergraduate students in their second year or above and graduate students within the National Taiwan University system are eligible to apply for this program. Students who are eligible but haven’t completed the program requirements can continue taking courses even if they enter a graduate program within NTU.

Students enrolled in this program who have met the graduation requirements of their department but have not yet completed the required courses and credits for the program may apply to the Office of Academic Affairs for an extension of their study period, for up to one additional year. However, the total study period must still comply with the limits set by the University Act and the university’s academic regulations.

2. Application Period

The number of admitted students will be determined by the program each year based on available resources. Applications are reviewed once per academic year. The application deadline is March 31st. Students wishing to apply should print the application form from the university’s credit program online application system and attach a copy of their academic transcript. After obtaining approval from their department head, students must submit their application materials to the program office between January 1 and March 31. Approved applicants will be notified after the review process.

3. Credit Recognition and Substitution

Courses offered by the program that students completed before enrolling in the program can be counted toward the program’s credit requirements. Courses not offered by the program cannot be counted as credits toward the program. Credits and grades for courses taken as part of this program will be included in the total credit count and average academic performance for that semester.

4. Issuance of Program Certificate

Students who have completed the required credits and passed all courses are eligible to apply for a certificate. They must submit copies of both their Chinese and English academic transcripts (with relevant courses highlighted), along with a completed application form and a credit verification form which can be downloaded from the program website. After the program office approves the application and it is signed by the Dean of Academic Affairs and the University President, a certificate for the “Western Classical Studies Credit Program” will be issued, with the specific study track noted on the certificate.
