Established in 1928, National Taiwan University (NTU) is a leading research university in Asia with over 30,000 students. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) welcomes applications for the following faculty positions.
I. General requirements (see also specific requirements under each track):
Minimum requirements include a PhD in a related field, a strong publication record and university-level teaching experience. NTU is a research institution; faculty are expected to pursue national grants and publish in top-tier journals. All full-time faculty members on the English track teach at least one DFLL service course such as Composition, Oral Training, and (if applicable) Freshman English. Faculty may direct theses and serve on various university and department committees. Some knowledge of Chinese and experience in teaching in a Chinese-speaking environment is a plus.
II. Openings:
Track One—Spanish. One full-time position. The successful candidate should:

- Have a PhD in teaching Spanish as a foreign language or a related field, such as Spanish Linguistics, Spanish Literature, or Spanish Cultural Studies. Priority will be given to Spanish Cultural Studies.
- Have experience of teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.
- Fulfill the obligation of teaching basic Spanish language courses.
Track Two—Drama (European incl.) in English. One full-time position. The successful candidate should:

- Have a PhD in Western Drama or a related field.
- Be capable of offering courses in English.
- Be capable of overseeing drama productions.
III. Salary and Ranks:
Salaries are set by the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Ministry of Education (MOE). The regular teaching load is 8 hours per week for full professors, and 9 for associate and assistant professors; teaching load deduction may apply to assistant professors. In addition to the salaries set by the MOE, there will also be other benefits including merit pay (subject to eligibility), startup funds, family health insurance, research grants and awards (on a competitive basis), and subsidized university housing (subject to availability). - Track One—Spanish:

Please submit a 20-minute teaching demonstration video consisting of a 10-minute teaching session on any Spanish cultural issue of your choice and a 10-minute Spanish grammar teaching session focusing on the subjunctive mood.

- Track Two—Drama:

Please submit a 15 to 20-minute teaching demonstration video for an undergraduate drama class, focusing on guiding students in critical thinking and integrating dramatic literature, theatre history, dramaturgy, information technologies, or social media into the classroom.
Successful candidates will be asked to provide a substantial dossier, two letters of recommendation to be sent directly by referees from their workplace email addresses, and other credentials for further evaluation.
