Job Announcement
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University announces one adjunct position in English. Initial appointment will begin on August 1, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications: Highly proficient English speaker with at least an MA in English, TESOL, or related fields with university teaching experience; experience in teaching English L2 speakers preferred. Minimum of one academic monograph, which may include MA or PhD thesis, or two academic papers, all of which must be published after August 2020.
Teaching Load: at least 6 hours of basic language courses (Freshman English, Writing and Oral Training) per week.
Salary and Rank: Adjunct faculty members are paid by the hour at 830NTD for Assistant Professors and 755NTD for Lecturers; subject to 18% income tax for those who hold a foreign passport and reside in Taiwan less than 183 days in a calendar year.

- Link to a 15-minute teaching demo video for a Freshman English, English Composition, or other English language class. The video should demonstrate how to guide students in critical thinking and how to integrate information technologies into English learning.
Final Process: Short-listed candidates will be asked to submit by mail the following to Mr. Justin Yu-Chuan Hsu, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Taiwan University, 1 Roosevelt Rd., Sec. 4, Taipei 106, Taiwan:
- photocopy of diploma of highest degree
- postsecondary transcript of highest degree
- sample syllabi for Freshman English, English Composition, or other English language courses
- two letters of recommendation to be sent directly by referees from their workplace email addresses.
- proof of past/current employment
- a photocopy of R.O.C. ID (both sides) (for foreign passport holders, a photocopy of your passport)
- a photocopy of teacher certificate (issued by MOE, Taiwan);
- four hard copies of each academic publication listed in the application form
